I did this SpOoKy Chic Halloween Mantel for next to nothing! I love it because it was sooo easy and fun. Plus its not too scary for the little ones and honestly its so pretty it looks like actual styled Halloween Décor.
First things first I started with some upcycled bottles. If you have read this blog before you know that I love to upcycle old bottles and vases. Its such a fun and inexpensive way to decorate and I think they always turn out beautiful! I saved some bottles over the year and soaked them in dawn dish soap, and then scrubbed off the labels. I ended up needing some shorter bottles or vases for contrast in height, so I grabbed some small vases at the Dollar tree. They are the small blue ones in the pictures below.
Next I headed over to Wal Mart and grabbed some Matte Black Spray Paint. I used Krylon brand in the color Flat Black. The Paint was very forgiving and the Matte Black looked super chic! They turned out beautiful!
Next I grabbed some Dollar Tree plastic skulls and Dollar tree Creepy Cloth and a couple black light up owls! I draped two of the Creepy Cloths over the mantel and added the bottles to the mantel as well. I added skulls at the the end of each side…. It was nice but it needed something…. I had some gold spray paint left over from a previous project. So I tried painting the skulls in gold and it really popped!!! It gave me the Gothic Chic look I was after! I loved the gold so much I dusted a few black bottles with the gold spray paint too!
Next up is my favorite part the bats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered them from Amazon and they set the Halloween Décor off in every room used! They were under $8 but made the biggest impact!!!!!! I loved these bats because they are 3D and create the most awesome setting! They come with double sided sticky to stick to the wall without having to create tack holes. They come with 88 bats which is enough to decorate multiple areas. I assembled them coming out of the fireplace, and a few here and there throughout the house. How Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is a picture of the bats on Amazon and the link to order. Sticky Halloween Bats
So far I had created this Mantel for like $25 bucks. The cost of spray paint, a few Dollar Tree Items, and the Bats. I loved it how it was but I really wanted to add candles. White candles were so cheap but the gold candles would make the world of difference! So I splurged on some beautiful gold sparkly candle sticks and it was more than worth it! Here are the candles below and link to order.Gold Candle Sticks
So all in all this was about $50 bucks. It created such a fun Halloween Ambiance in our living room where we spend so much time! I loved watching our Halloween movies with the candles lit and Fireplace going! It made for a great picture back drop for our annual Halloween Party, and for costume pictures on Halloween day with the kiddos! I loved it so much I will use it again this year and focus on another space for this years crafts! I hope to add a little more every year until the house is decked out! Follow along if you loved this!!! I will be doing a Halloween Spooky Chic Table Scape this year to go with this Mantel… Coming Soon!
